I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is. Marian Allen's Google profile

February 27, 2014 at 10:39amGirl, those sound a lot like cranes! Sandhill cranes. I’ve only seen them twice, but I heard them before I saw them. Around here, birds are usually coming up from the river or heading down to it. In short, they’re often a lot closer to the ground and easier to see.
My favorite sign of spring is hyacinths. I love the tangy smell.
