Elvis on Caturday with Katya AtoZ Letter E

KATYAcKatya Graymalkin here.

Mom said she wanted me to post about Elvis today. I said, “Is he a cat?” And Mom said, “Is Elvis a cat? I’ll say! Elvis is the coolest cat ever!”

I got a little jealous, but then she showed me that he’s a different kind of cat. He’s a cool PEOPLE cat. Mom says I’m still the coolest FELINE cat.

I must say that, after watching this video, I agree with her, especially considering the song he’s singing. Best. Song. Ever.

Elvis Singing the Best. Song. Ever.

“You ain’t nothin’ but a hound dog, cryin’ all the time. You ain’t never caught a rabbit and you ain’t no friend of mine.” HAHAHAHAHAhahahahahaaaaa!

Mom says her grandmother called my granny the night this show was on and told her to watch it, because that young man was special.

Elvis houseMom and Charlie drove down to Texas one time, and Mom made Charlie go off-route so they could go to Tupelo, Mississippi and visit the Elvis birthplace. This is a picture of his house that Mom took.

So thank you, Mom, for introducing me to my new favorite song.

The A to Z challenge doesn’t include posting on Sundays, but Mom always posts a sample of her writing that day, so come back tomorrow to read a little piece of something Mom wrote. I hope it has a cat in it! Or a dog that’s crying all the time. Ha ha ha ha haaaa!

A WRITING PROMPT FOR ANIMALS: What is your favorite song and why?

One of my sons went to college in TN. I went to visit him with another of my sons, and although we were in Nashville, I made him drive us all the way to Graceland to see Elvis’ “mansion” which is an incredible experience. It is a time capsule of the 1970’s! The shag rugs, the colors of the decade…unforgettable.
I regularly go to youtube to watch him sing One Night with You from his comeback tour, as it is something which makes me swoon. As I was a Beatles fan, I never understood his appeal until I got…OLDER! 🙂 XOX jean

Jean, I was firmly in the Beatles’ camp in the Beatles v Elvis wars, but I loved young Elvis’ movies. “I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” from Blue Hawaii…. ~sigh~

We always had an old Elvis 35 lying about the house. Not worth a cent! Too many were pressed! Why is there only value in rarity? Oh, wait, yeah…

No voice equals Elvis’, and no one, except perhaps JFK, has inspired as many fictional appearances. Elvis is not dead! He lives on….on your bookshelf!

He sure does! He appears as a character in so many books, either by name or as “Bubba” or some other pseudonym. The best I’ve read is ELVIS, JESUS & COCA-COLA by Kinky Friedman.

Of course! And, since you’re posting about eating and writing today, let’s talk peanut-butter-and-banana sandwiches! 😉

I wish I had been old enough to go and seen him as I love him. But one day I will visit Graceland. As for my favorite song it is Heartbreak Hotel. Do you remember where you was when you heard he died? I was boarding a bus ion downtown Fort Worth with my mom to go o my grannies.

Heartbreak Hotel is a good one! And Jailhouse Rock! I was at work when I heard, but the Elvis I loved was long gone by then. I remember thinking what a terrible shame it was that he didn’t have any real friendships strong enough to anchor him and keep him from drifting into self-destruction. He was a super talent, even when his life was in shambles. We lost him too soon.

He’s my mom’s favourite artist and mine too. There can be only one Elvis.
