Today is another twofer, courtesy of my late, great mother.
Kids are question machines, and sometimes moms don’t have answers. So sometimes I would ask a question, and Mom would say:
Beats me, Lieutenant.
Where she got that, I do not know. She was never in military service. Grandpa was, so maybe he brought it home.
But here’s the thing: When a day came that I used it to her, she said:
Well, find out, Sergeant!
Just couldn’t win with her. Wasn’t worth the trouble to even try. 😀

October 3, 2018 at 8:07amStratego, FTW. This made me chuckle. Chortle, even. Whether or not a precedent exists for that saying, your family made it your own. It’s fun to get a glimpse into the seemingly mundane viewscope of everyday life, only to discover a gem of familial frivolity. It makes me appreciate the goofy things we say in our family.
Cheers,
Mitch
