I may have shared this first site before, but I think it’s brilliant and bears repeating (if repeat I do). You know how belligerents bury land mines during war and then never clean them up? And how people get maimed and killed by them in peace-time? Then you know how dangerous it is to hunt for the damn things, because you could trigger one just by stepping to heavily near one?
What if there were something that was quick, intelligent, good at sniffing, and too light to trigger a mine? The post title gave it away, didn’t it? I’m talking about Hero Rats. And they not only detect landmines, they can sniff out tuberculosis! GOD, I love these little guys! You can donate one time, or you can adopt a Hero Rat. Brilliant!
Okay, that’s enough about rats. Let’s talk about quilts. I don’t quilt, but #2 Daughter does, and Charlie is getting interested in it. He’s been struggling a li’l wee bit with deciding on his design, and I suddenly realized: DUH! PicMonkey!
I use PicMonkey to design most of the graphics I use for this website, and I realized Charlie could use it to help him visualize his design. He can even use their graphics, if he wants to, or he can upload his own graphics and bung ’em onto a template of any dimensions he chooses. Kewl!
Oh, the fairy tales, the fairy tales, how I love the fairy tales! SurLaLune is my new jam. It’s annotated and scholarly, which I’m sometimes in the mood for and sometimes not, but if I’m not, I don’t have to follow the annotation links. BOBW (best of both worlds!)!
The Literary Club I belong to has the theme of Fairy Tales this year, so I’m delighted to have this resource. In fact, Imma go share it with them now in an email. BOOM! Done.
A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write about rats. Positive or negative, but bonus points for positive.

December 29, 2018 at 8:57amI wish I had the hand-eye coordination, or whatever it is, to quilt and/or sew. I’m neurologically challenged. Not enough to interfere with ordinary life, but enough to crack myself in the nose with a plate while drying dishes. Juuuuuuuust enough to look stupid but not enough to be interesting, ya know? BUT ANYWAY, I hear you about enjoying the design. I can spend hours designing tiny houses, just for fun. I think that’s one reason I love Minecraft: I can build houses, tiny and huge. And I can garden without hurting my back!
