I finished bingeing the new Lost In Space, and may watch it again. It is one damn thing after another, but it’s also strongly character-based, which is a combination I really go for.

My favorite character is Evil Dr. Smith, played by Parker Posey.

First, I have to tell you that Mr. Robinson is a Navy SEAL. Mrs. (Dr.?) Robinson is an engineer and know All The Things. Young Will is a math wiz and geology geek and speaks Parseltongue — I mean, can communicate with alien robots. Oldest sib Judy is a 19-year-old medical genius and long-distance runner. No matter how hopeless a situation seems one or more of them will figure a way out. Oh, and there’s Penny. Middle child Penny is … a smart-ass but basically sweet child.

So Penny, a teacher, a friend, and Evil Dr. Smith are trapped in an impossible situation. Evil Dr. Smith says, like, “No! We aren’t trapped! We aren’t doomed! Because we have a Robinson!

Then she eagerly grasps Penny’s arm and pleads, with intense, wild, hoping-against-hope fervor:

You aren’t the best Robinson, but you’re the only Robinson we have.

Oh, show, show…. Yeah, definitely have to watch that again.

I like that line. Come winter I promise to give this show a second look. You’ve got me curious.

Watch maybe 4 episodes before you give up on it — if you aren’t hooked by then.
