Fair Warning #1LinerWeds

I have some old 78 rpm records, and I’ve known people who’ve had them. Thanks to the wonder that is Spotify, I’ve found some of the songs I remember from those records and can listen to them again.

One song I remember has a title that’s a one-liner in and of itself:

You May Be Fast, But You Won’t Last, Because Your Mama’s Gonna Slow You Down.

But the line from the song that’s my one-liner for this week is one of “Mama”‘s methods of slowing him down. It’s also a threat we used to make to each other when I was a kid, albeit without the rhyme:

I’m gonna get a pail of water cold as ice, dunk your head in it three times, and only pull it out twice.

As they say in England, be told.

This post is part of Linda G. Hill’s weekly blog hop, One-Liner Wednesday. If you have a one-liner or just like them, follow the link.

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: What would make you (or your main character) want to carry out that threat?

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.
