While I’m waiting for my eyeballs to settle down from having their lenses replaced, I’ve substituted SSR (Sustained Silent Reading, as they called it when #4 Daughter was in primary school) with listening to podcasts. One podcast, to be precise.

And what is that podcast, you ask? Long-time readers will not be surprised.

Drunk Women Solving Crime

Drunk Women Solving Crime is a true crime podcast with a twist… of lime. Join writer/comedian hosts Hannah George, Catie Wilkins and Taylor Glenn as they welcome top guests from comedians to crime writers to test out their drunk detective skills.

Each episode sees the boozed-up panel tackle personal crime stories, solve true crime cases, and seek justice for your listener crimes.

When women sit around and drink, we try to solve the world’s problems. So, we’re taking back the night and putting our inebriation to good use. You’re welcome.

If you don’t enjoy women a few sheets to the wind talking shit, this podcast is not for you.

Guess what inspired my nails this week?

The base color is Maniology’s Flashdance, the black stamping is with Maniology’s Straight Up Black, and the red is Maniology’s Red Sea. I used six plates to assemble all the images.

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Someone gets tipsy and solves a crime.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

I think they might be as qualified as many in law enforcement.

When my kids were in school, it was called “DEAR time.” Drop Everything and Read.

I hope your eyeballs settle down soon, but I’m glad you’ve found a podcast that you enjoy to distract you – and let them rest while they heal!

DEAR time — I like that a lot!

I’m resting my eyes with great reluctance. Naturally, JUST when I can’t work for long on the computer, I have much computer work to do.

If I didn’t need middle-distance vision, I could be back to regular now, with the magnifiers for reading. It takes about three weeks from the surgery before everything settles down and you can get prescription eyeglasses (if you still need them). I still need them for middle and close work, so I have a couple more weeks to wait.

Sara has to trim her nails down to “nubbins” when she’s doing field work. It’s perfectly possible to do nail art on super-short nails. I think there’s a Facebook group for short-nail art (because of course there is).
