Thursday Doors: Corning, New York 3

Walking around Corning, New York is a never-ending treat for door lovers! Here are a few more:

A beautiful blue:

Three doors and a fountain (why am I singing it? Bonus points if you know):

Market Street Brewing Company. Not open when we were around, alas:

And this building which claims to be, but is no longer, the Corning Glass Works. I believe this is where my mother worked when she first moved to Corning, New York with the Corning Glass accountants from Louisville. I remember her telling me her office was being moved to “the black building”.

Thursday doors is under the direction of Dan Antion, photographer extraordinaire and critter daddy. Visit his site, enjoy his wonderful photographs, follow his directions, and enter a world of doors.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

Lovely doors. Thank you for including the historical marker (I love reading those). Is you singing related to coins? It’s interesting to think of a time when companies went to great lengths to provide for employee recreation. In many cases, there were no other options in the area. The Ætna even had bowling allies in its headquarters building in Hartford. I am glad the building your mom worked in has been preserved. But, the winner-winner-chicken-dinner shot today is that first door. I could stand and stare at that for a long time. The diagonal panel frames surrounding that narrow center panel is a work of art.
