I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is. Marian Allen's Amazon profile

January 31, 2024 at 1:57pmOnce or twice (can’t remember if we went without kids once, but we may have) to go to Disneyworld. Had a good time.
I went to Cape Canaveral several time when I was working for the Applied Physics Lab on submarines – several three-week DASOs working on a particular sub – pretty cool sitting up on the conning tower coming back into port watching the phosphorescent flying fish in the bow wave with no lights but the stars.
And I’ve always loved the Travis McGee novels of John D. MacDonald – read the whole bunch and many more than once.
Otherwise, in my consciousness, it is a place of muggy weather and mosquitoes and mean politicians (and hurricanes), and I don’t want to be there (especially now).

February 1, 2024 at 8:34amDisneyworld was a blast! Loved Universal Studios, too. I bought a washcloth with BATES MOTEL on it. Sitting on the conning tower of a real submarine is my idea of a good time, my friend. Mom and Sara and I went on a “submarine” tour, which was really just a little enclosed boat with windows all around that went underwater just deep enough for us to see fish and flora and fauna. That was awesome, but coming up from the depths… man, that rocks!

January 31, 2024 at 8:45amI’ve been there many times, always while on business or attending an event. I enjoyed some early morning walks on the beach, and I took one of our vendors to visit the Kennedy Space Center. Other than than, nothing that makes me want to return (other than meeting some of my blog buddies).

January 31, 2024 at 10:21amMom, Sara, and I went there twice and had great times. I’ve gotten so heat-sensitive, I wouldn’t dare go now. Glad I did, though.

January 31, 2024 at 7:47amYes, twice. Thankfully I didn’t find any sociopathic criminals. I did find it hot, sticky, very interesting historically, and lots of fun, with beautiful bayous, bays, and coastline.
