Thursday Doors: CoryDoors — The Great Satan

#ThursdayDoors #writingprompt

“The Great Satan” is what I call WalMart, because Charlie hated WalMart with the heat of a thousand suns.

I go there occasionally, because there are just some essentials that are available nowhere else in a 50 mile radius.

While I was there, I made the best of a bad business by taking a couple of door pictures.

No external hardware. Grim.
So blue!

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: A store you or your loved one hates.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

I go to Walmart about as often as you do. Good to know what the fire exits look like. I’m almost always looking for an exit as soon as I step inside.

LOL! Once I enter the depths, though, I can hardly tear myself away. It’s a terrible fascination. As Mom used to say, “I’ve never seen so much stuff I didn’t want.”

    Wiltshire Bakery was subtle,
    a casual brick and mortar,
    fickle, shiny like a bubble,
    a joy and happiness hoarder.

    Like many a lazy day
    my bother and I made
our way to coffee at the corner
to break the malaise of the day.

    For some reason on this
    particular day
    the owner was unhappy
her eyes never glancing our way.

    Perturbed then disturbed
my brother’s glee to a frown,
    hand waving for her attention
    motioning her to walk down.

    A patronizing venture
    thought he and I.
    Support local business
    ‘‘twas our reason why.

    For the service was abysmal,
    away without our coffee call.
    5 minute trysts for coffee
now take place at the mall.
