So WordPress evidentally updated and things aren’t working right. When I get time, I’ll dig in and tweak it back, but I’m busy right now.
I went to print from my new laptop, and it wouldn’t print. It would from Windows, but not from Linux. So I went online and found a solution and implemented it and Bob’s your uncle — It works!
My one-liner today is
Bob’s your uncle.
Nobody knows why that means There you go! or I did it! I picked it up from reading English novels and watching English shows, but I think it’s pretty common in America, too.
I get a kick out of the variations. Here are some:
Bob’s your uncle; Fannie’s your aunt.
Robert is yer muvver’s bruvver.
Meet Robert: he’s your uncle.
In other words: I did it!
A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Uncles and aunts.

February 14, 2024 at 8:50amMy friend David (Ipswich, England) introduced me to this phrase when I was working with him on a project in the late 1990s. I always think of him when I see/hear it, and that’s a good thing.

February 15, 2024 at 2:37pmOh, no, John; Linux and I slew the Windows beast! Linux was just playing a little game with me, seeing if I was really committed. I am. Or should be….

February 15, 2024 at 3:32pm‘Bob’s your uncle’ is a saying here in Australia too, although I’m not sure how many of the younger generations have heard it. Would love to know where and why it originated!
