I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is. Marian Allen's Amazon profile

August 24, 2024 at 2:33amI keep thinking the very rich are planning to somehow avoid the consequences of their behavior, because they have the money to hire other people to do things FOR them.
I’ve been following the story of Mike Lynch, a very rich Brit who died a couple of days ago – with his teenage daughter – when their yacht sank at anchor in a sudden storm. It reminded me that not only do things still happen to them, but they WILL die eventually, and will leave a degraded planet to their heirs they claim to love.
We’re all on THIS boat together. There’s no other we can go to (unless Mr. Musk manages to get himself and a few more to Mars).
They’ll say Lynch wasn’t really one of them, or was unlucky, or something dismissive – but my children and I are not at the bottom of the Mediterranean. Because we don’t have the money to buy the yacht to float on its waters.
A sort of climate justice? Dunno.
