One-Liner Wednesday: Not All Angels

#OneLinerWednesday #AngelsOnEarth #writingprompt

I don’t believe in a deity who is all-knowing AND all-loving AND all-powerful, because the evidence is against it, but I do believe in angels, especially people who do things the cynical can’t explain.

I went to the grocery Monday, and a woman limped up to me in the produce section and said, “Were you in the little black car parked next to the place where you leave the shopping carts?”

I said, “Yes.”

She said, “You left your keys in the car door.”

Y’all, she did not proceed to do her shopping, because she had been in her car after her shopping when she spotted me doing the dumb thing. She said she had tried to stop me before I went in, but — y’all! — she has a bad knee and couldn’t catch me. So she had come in at her own slow pace, prepared to search the store until she found me.

If that isn’t a goddamn angel, you show me one.

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: An angel on earth.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.
