Thursday Doors: Down On The Farm With Freddy

I haven’t been anywhere but the usual places, so I’ve turned again to my bookshelves for doors.

These come from FREDDY THE DETECTIVE by Walter R. Brooks, and the pictures are by Kurt Wiese. Freddy the Pig is my favorite detective of all time — Well, Freddy and his partner, Mrs. Wiggins the cow, and their wise-cracking assistant, Jinx the black cat.

Freddy in disguise.
Mrs. Wiggins and Charles the rooster.
Jinx escorting Alice and Emma the ducks to look for Freddy.
Freddy, Jinx, and Mrs. Wiggins, getting summary judgement on Ezra, the rat, from Charles, the rooster, with Charles’ wife, Henrietta, looking on.
Old Mrs. Winnick, the rabbit, asking for help in finding her missing son.
Mr. Bean, farmer and “owner” of the animals, asking Peter the bear to chase away a miscreant.

Thursday doors is under the direction of Dan Antion, photographer extraordinaire and critter daddy. Visit his site, enjoy his wonderful photographs, follow his directions, and enter a world of doors.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

I love the Freddy books, and I read them to Sara when she was little and she loves them, too. All the animals, including the bugs and insects (Mr. and Mrs. Webb, the spiders and Jacob, the wasp) have names, except that the younger generations of rabbits tend to take numbers. And they each have a distinct personality, although they also share group characteristics, “Like all frogs, he tended to be boastful.”
