Chickie Tells A Tale
by Marian Allen
It was a day like a spoonful of warm tuna juice. One of those days when everything seems to be going your way, when the sunny spot you want is unoccupied and nobody’s slobbering into the water dispenser.
Then it all went wrong.
The slim black-and-white beauty with legs that went on for days and a tail that wouldn’t quit until it came to the white tip on the end was having one of those perfect days when BAM! It came crashing down on her.
Before she could run away or blame it on one of the other cats, she was caught.

Next thing she knew, she was behind bars.

She was the type of cat who took the hand she was dealt and made the most of it. You didn’t survive kittenhood under the porch unless you could hold your own, especially with three brothers.
So she prowled, testing every square inch of her cell.

And she found her way out. It was through the same small door she had come in by, held open by the same judge who had sent her to the slammer in the first place.
People! she thought. Love ’em or hate ’em, they can’t stay mad at you long.
As the long day came to an end, she turned herself inside out.

The judge liked that. It never hurt to have a little good will in the bank for hard times.

May 4, 2025 at 7:34pmI’m with Alicia! Lucky you’re so cute Chickie because that curtain looks pretty dead. How is your Mum going to fix it?
Still, I’m glad you’re out of jail. -hugs-

May 5, 2025 at 7:22amOne of the benefits of having simple, shabby things is that they’re pretty easy to fix. I just put the curtain rod back on its hook and it was fine. Silly cat!
