Okay, so I’m late posting. So sue me.
ANYWAY, I didn’t sell anything at From The Ground Up bookstore at Lagrange, but I bought a couple of things. One was my blind date with a book package, and the other was a used copy of Charlotte Rogan’s THE LIFEBOAT. I lovelovelove stories about survival at sea, from ROBINSON CRUSOE to LIFE OF PI, so naturally I bought this. Bonus: This is the book.

How could I NOT buy a book about being stranded in the ocean that’s deformed by water damage. I mean, honestly, how could I not?
Wonderful book. Fiction. Told first person by a survivor under indictment for murdering a fellow lifeboat passenger. She recounts the events in writing for her lawyers so they can better mount a defense. She writes with absolute honesty, but in two chunks. It becomes clear she’s an unreliable narrator, not because she’s lying, but because she doesn’t see herself clearly. When her lawyers give her a way to justify herself, she believes that to be the truth and writes the second part of her private testimony as if it’s the truth, oblivious to the fact that she’s put herself on record otherwise.
It’s brilliantly done. Highly recommended. I’m about to read it again, just to enjoy the journey through her psyche again.
My nails this week are the leaves I’d like to see. All our leaves are long gone and soggy on the ground.
The base of all these nails is a glittery gold. I did a fluid art of that gold, a green-gold, and a red-gold. I stamped with a glittery brown over a fluid art nail and over a plain gold nail. I reverse-stamped the one over the plain gold.
