Couldn’t get going today.

Macaroni Gambit

“Mo-om! Why are you making macaroni salad? You KNOW I hate macaroni salad!”

“Relax, Princess, it’s for the church pitch-in. There’ll be a million other dishes.”

“So I don’t have to eat macaroni salad?”

“No, you do not have to eat this macaroni salad.”

Cooked macaroni, hard-boiled eggs, dill pickles, celery, salt, pepper, paprika, plain yellow mustard, and enough mayonnaise to hold it all together.

“Mmmm! Macaroni salad.” Big hug. “I love macaroni salad! Why do you only make it for church pitch-ins and never for me?”

“Because, Dad, if she made it for you, I’d have to eat it. If she makes it for the pitch-in, I can eat something else. She said.”

“Oh! You know what? The church pitch-in isn’t until NEXT week!” Kiss. “So I guess I made this for you, after all.”

“But I still don’t have to eat it and you and Dad can’t rag me about it, right? You promised!”

“I did promise.”

Funny how things work out.

MY PROMPT FOR TODAY: macaroni salad
