Bitter Cold Hogwarts

Only two recommendations today, unless I think of another one before I finish. Why? Because the week has FLOWN. You wouldn’t think having two cats fighting over your lap would take so much of your time, would you?

Bitter ColdFirst, I’m pleased and proud to report that Per Bastet Publications has issued the novel-length version of Katina French’s BITTER COLD, a Steampunk retelling of The Snow Queen. Kat did her own cover, too. Isn’t it a beaut? It’s available in paperback and for Kindle.

Childhood friends Kit and Greta live in an alternate 1886 powered by mechanical marvels and alchemical magic. When Kit is captured by a ruthless industrialist known as the Snow Queen, Greta risks everything to save him. Can a stubborn young lady defeat the most powerful woman in the world with a little alchemy, a lot of luck, and a clockwork reindeer? Or will the Snow Queen’s diabolical device, the Eternity Engine, wreak an icy reckoning?

Don’t let me spoil it for you, but it has a happy ending. 🙂

ALSO, if you aren’t following Curious Places, you’re missing some serious eye candy. Take this post, for example, featuring what they call A Ukranian Hogwarts. Gorgeous!

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Look at that page of pictures from the Ukranian Hogwarts and write something set there, with clockwork, steam power, and alchemy involved.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

The curious spots is AWESOME! I book marked it ASAP.
The Cover art for the Snow Queen is entirely the MAX!
I usually by-pass retold fairy tales etc, because..ho-hum…yawn. I have a feeling this one will be much tastier.

BITTER COLD is somethin’ else. Kat is stunningly creative, and blends humor seamlessly into her narrative and dialog. There are special guest appearances in this book from characters in some of her other Clockwork Republic books and stories. I hope you enjoy BITTER COLD as much as I did. BTW, I edited it, so any errors are mine. *blush*
