Columbia Club #ThursdayDoors

First, it’s the beginning of the month, so I have a new Hot Flash up on my Hot Flashes page. A Hot Flash is a micro-mini story of about 150 or so characters, including spaces and punctuation.

I took so many pictures in and around The Columbia Club when I was in Indianapolis for this year’s Magna cum Murder, I had to split them into four posts! This one is mostly of actual doors.

Thursday Doors is the brain child of Norm Frampton, photographer extraordinaire. Visit his site, enjoy his wonderful photographs, click on the blue frog link, and enter a world of doors.

So many, I put them into a gallery. Click any picture to start the slideshow.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

All of that wood paneling is so beautiful! Places like this give off such a classy vibe.

Oh, this place is so classy, I’m surprised an invisible force field didn’t forbid my entrance.

Whatever happened to transoms? They must have gone the way of those little vent windows in cars.

You know, I still miss those wings in cars. My car has fixed clear glass where wings used to be. Improves visibility, maybe? But the wings were great for directing breezes without blowing your head off and sending loose paper flying by rolling down a window. I loved transoms. A window in a wall–how could one not love that?

I love these – especially the phone booth and the barber shop. The fancy woodwork is noce on it’s own and better with doors.

I thought it was brilliant, keeping the phone booths. I was like, Why? but my business partner T instantly got it: privacy for cell phone conversations. The Columbia Club is ALL about the woodwork. It’s like being inside the Speed Museum’s manor house exhibit.

I agree that the wood work is great. Good finds, Marian.

I haven’t been in there in years. Ghost transom for the win, but love the redone phone booths, fancy chair, noble lights, and fireplace too!

I doubt it’s changed much since the last time you were there. It’s a gorgeous place! Next year, maybe you can come visit. 🙂
