HELLO! My name is CHICKIE! Mommy says today is the Winter Solstice, the shortest day and the longest night of the year. And she says that Christmas is coming!
Tipper keeps looking for it, but it isn’t here, yet.

I’m always a helper girl, but I helped a lot this week! Poppy is painting, and I helped him keep everything in place. And I didn’t play in the paint!

I be’d really, really good all week, and looked at Mommy when she took my picture.

Mommy says we can’t have decorations or a thing she calls a Christmas tree or wrapped presents, because I would eat them. She says she isn’t giving us gifts this year, because we would ignore them and play with the wrapping, so she’s just going to throw some wrapping paper on the floor. That sounds fun! I can’t wait!
Meanwhile, Poppy left the top off of some toys on the table, and I robbed one. I had a great time, batting it all over the floor. Then Mommy came in to see what was making that clattering noise and said, “Charlie! She’s got one of your Springerles!” She took it away from me and dunked it in coffee and ate it! So who’s eating toys now, Mommy?

She made this greeting from us to you. I asked her why it doesn’t say “Merry Christmas,” and she said, “Not everybody celebrates Christmas, but a lot of people celebrate a lot of stuff right around now.” I asked her if Christmas people were going to get mad at her, and she said, “If they do, I’ll just have to suck it up, Buttercup.” Tipper laughed and laughed, and now he calls me Buttercup sometimes. I’m gonna start calling him Primrose and see how he likes it!
Here’s our greeting:

Happy Every Kinda Holiday!
A WRITING PROMPT FOR ANIMALS: Do you eat decorations and tear the wrapping off of presents?

December 21, 2019 at 7:36amWishing you all a wonderful holiday season. Donβt eat too much wrapping paper, Chickie AND no tinsel!!!

December 21, 2019 at 9:12amWe don’t decorate at all, because she WOULD eat the tinsel. Charlie has a Chickie story about dental floss that you do NOT want to hear. This is why we can’t have nice things.
Happy Holidays of every possible joyous kind!

December 21, 2019 at 6:27pmI love it when the days start getting longer again.
And Daddy would have been 96 today. I can’t believe it’s been five years! In his honor, I added Frank and Ernest back to my comics page – sometimes they’re even funny.
Have a great family celebration, however you best celebrate.

December 22, 2019 at 8:52amHUGS! Mom will have been gone two years on January 2. They’re still always with us, aren’t they, and their loss is always with us. Mom’s favorite comic was Pogo. Did you ever see the Pogo comics? They stopped when the artist, Walt Kelly passed. Here’s an interesting tribute site: http://whirledofkelly.blogspot.com/
Thanks for the kind wishes. Of course, I wish you well, as always! Hugs!

December 22, 2019 at 7:13amHi Helper Girl. Ask your Mum to scrunch up some aluminium foil and add it to the wrapping paper. It makes a wonderful scritching noise on tiles and bare boards. π
Hoping my two favourite felines have a wonderful holiday and make lots of mess.:)

December 22, 2019 at 8:54amYes. Your hope will doubtless be fulfilled.
When out from the kitchen, there rose such a clatter
I sprang from the couch to see what was the matter.
Then, what to my wondering eyes should appear
But a cat playing cars with a Springerle dear.
Oh, that girl! lol

December 23, 2019 at 8:54pmThat holiday greeting is just precious! What a coupla cuties!
My cats have been playing in the wrapping for days now. I finally collected it up today and now they only have the boxes, poor dears.
FYI My female boss has been doing the nail dipping and she thinks it’s amazing and wonderful and I just smiled and nodded and said how pretty and festive, because she’s so happy. I don’t know how long she plans to keep at it.

December 24, 2019 at 7:57amDoes she do it herself, or go to the salon? Had I but known, I would have steered clear. Anything that requires electric-powered industrial machinery on body parts is questionable, IMO.
