I had the great pleasure of reminding #2 Daughter of something her father’s mother used to say that #2 had forgotten. Then we had a lovely talk about “Curly Gran” and how sweet and really just phenomenal she was. She volunteered in the “sick baby” ward, and the suffering and deaths of little ones hurt her so much she was transferred to the “well baby” ward. She asked to be transferred back, because “the sick ones need me.”

But this is not a tribute post, although I could certainly write one. This is a funny one-liner.

If one of the kids came in with their hair sticking out everywhichaway, she would say:

Honey, your head looks like a stump full of granddaddies!

“Granddaddies” is what she called daddy long-legs (harvestmen) spiders. I’ll just leave you with that image. 😀

This post is part of Linda G. Hill’s weekly blog hop, One-Liner Wednesday. If you have a one-liner or just like them, follow the link.

I love sayings like this. My brother and I are wrestling with trying to remember a saying my dad used. We can only remember the first half (not printable here).

Hadn’t heard that one – and it needed the explanation – but she sounded like a lovely lady. I wish I could do that – I love that the people who still have some energy use it well.

She was a doll. I miss her so. It was one of the many things Charlie and I shared: missing his mother.
