I remembered visiting the Benjamin Patterson Inn with my mother and grandparents when they lived in Corning, so Sara and I checked it out when we were there. It wasn’t open, but closed doors are still doors, so….

    I love these doors, Marian. There’s something about a simple let’s-keep-the-weather-out door that makes me smile. I always enjoy going back to places my parents took me.

      That was one of the joys of that trip: The treasure-hunting component. “I remember we went to this little museum on Pulteney Street….” or “Remember you used to play in that park a few blocks from the apartment? If we could find the apartment building, we might find the park….” And we did those things. The museums were great, but chasing down memories was even better!
