Monday Recommends and Nail Art: Characters and Seashells

The amazing Sara Marian, aka #4 Daughter, turned me on to this site, HeroForge, where you can build a character in 3D. For a price, Ugarte, you can save the figure to a portfolio online, and for a larger price you can have them 3D print it and send the figure to you. Me, I took a screenshot free gratis for nothing.

This is Tortoise, one of the Divine Animals in my fantasy trilogy-plus-book-of-short-stories, SAGE and SHIFTY. (As of today, 09/10/23, many of my titles (and I have many titles) are FREE on Kindle.)

ANYWAY, here’s Tortoise:

Scary bastard, ain’t he?

On the other end of the spectrum, here are my prettypretty nails this week. Following the removal of my palmar cyst, my left hand is wrapped in a bulky dressing, which I wrapped in cling wrap to keep it from getting dragged through the nail polish.

I did a base color of slightly off-white. Then I put dots of translucent blue, purple, pink, and pearl on a piece of plastic and swirled them together, and stamped that over the base color. I stamped each nail with a pink stamping polish, then the accent nail/thumb with tentacles in pale blue. It is, as Sara likes to say, suh-uhl. (Subtle, with some kind of an English accent.)

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Something beautiful and something scary from the sea. It can be the same thing.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

Scary things can be beautiful. I like the character, and the nails.

Cute. Are the colors painted on if you buy it, or are they through and through the figurine?

Good use for 3D printing – something I’ve assumed was going on in manufacturing somewhere, but haven’t seen much of since the printers burst onto the scene some years ago.

-grin- that was fun! HeroForge is a bit like the character customization you get in MMO’s. Very slick and a lot of fun to play with. Thank you. 😀 😀

That’s the most fun, is making characters. Or, in Minecraft, building a house. Sometimes I get into raising horses or cows or rabbits or chickens, but it’s mostly making a house.
