Monday Recommends and Nail Art: Autumn Moon Festival

So #1 Daughter’s Husband turned me on to this translation of this book/series, STORY OF THE STONE, also known as DREAM OF THE RED CHAMBER, which introduced me to the Autumn Moon celebrations, which put Over the Moon onto my radar. Now Over the Moon is an annual viewing tradition.

Since last Friday was the night of this year’s Autumn Moon Festival, and Friday is nail night, here are my nails this week:

My accent nail base polish is an orange gold, and the other nails are off-white. The stamps are in red, orange gold, and off-white. My accent nails are stamped with paper lanterns and the moon rabbit, my bird and little fingers are stamped with moon cakes, my pointer fingers are stamped with lotus blossoms, and my thumbnails are stamped with full moons. I didn’t think the lotus stood out enough against the red pattern, so I stamped over just the lotus blossom in the orange gold to help it — as they say — pop.

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: A full moon.

I’ve heard of the Dream of the Red Chamber, but that’s about it.
I might check it out. Thanks for the headsup. 🙂

It’s five volumes and it goes on and on and on and on and on. When I was reading it, I called it “my Chinese soap opera.”
