Thursday Doors: Golden

#ThursdayDoors #poetry #writingprompt

Again, I haven’t been anywhere with new doors, so I’ve gone to my bookshelves for help.

When I was wee, my mother gave me THE GOLDEN BOOK OF POETRY. You might say it opened the doors to poetry for me.

You can tell it’s mine, because I wrote my name in it.

ANYWAY, here are some doors from within the book.

I’ve spent many a happy hour with this book. I lost track of it and was determined to find it while #4 Daughter was here. I did, and paged through it with her looking over my shoulder. “Oh! I remember that one!” she said, as the pages turned. “I remember that picture, too!” Joy and double joy.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

Little Golden Books were purposely priced low so low-income folks could afford them. Mom bought me as many as there was spare money for, and I bought many for the kids. Classics: The Saggy Baggy Elephant. The Pokey Little Puppy.

I was so happy when I found my book again … and even happier when Sara got such a kick out of remembering when I read to her out of it. 🙂
