I’m old, y’all. I get DRY skin. Ashy don’t begin to describe it. So I’ve started using shea butter soap. The first person who turned me on to shea butter was a Black merchant at an arts & crafts fair. I bought a bar from her and forgot about it. Recently, I remembered it and used it and OMG! As you can tell from my nail photos, my hands are still ashy, but that’s because I wash them many, many times a day, and did even before COVID. #3 Daughter always wanted me to do her hair, but she wanted them washed because I was always cooking something. She’d come in with her hair brush and say, “Are your hands sterile?”
ANYWAY, I like shea butter soap and I’ve found a new one to try. It’s from a place called Shea Terra, which is certified wildlife friendly and not tested on animals. I got the fragrance free, but they have many scents available. I wear, and will probably always wear, a perfume my late husband liked on me, and I don’t want to cover it up with a different scent.
Maybe I’ll use some of my new bath soap as a hand soap and see what happens.
My nail base color this week is called Black Magic, which is shimmery and sparkly IRL, but not in my photograph. Bah. The stamps are in pale blue and gold.
A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Something very dry.
