Yes, I’ve been hors de combat again. Hors de combat is French for “somebody beat up my horse”. Well, no, it isn’t.
ANYWAY, I fell in the hotel room in Indy the Saturday morning of InConjunction. Gave myself a fat lip, a bruised knee, and bruised foot tops. Purple from toe to ankle. Looked like a punk Hobbit. Of course, I soldiered on, but I was, as my grandpa would have said, plumb tuckered after the weekend and didn’t feel like posting. I still look like I tried DIY Botox, but oh well.
See, the bed in the hotel room was about six feet off the ground, and had flanges on it to, I guess, keep the mattress from rolling off the pea under it, and one of the flanges caught the hem of my jeans and over I went, ass over teakettle, boom onto my knee and lip and flap there go the tops of my feet against the floor.
I did manage to take some pictures. Here’s one.

It’s a twofer!
I’ll post more pictures and two weeks’ nail art anon. Also food.

July 16, 2026 at 1:12pmI’m so sorry to hear about your fall. That’s awful. I think things heel quickly.
I like the doors, and give you the “over and above the call of duty” award for this week. Of course, the award is in lieu of an adequate healthcare plan for door lovers. And we still don’t provide bail money, just in case the pain drives you to consider a life of door-inspired crime.
