Food Tuesday: Lose and Win

#FoodTuesday #writingprompt

Y’all.

I made a stir fry in my new Hexclad wok. It was magnificent.

Mushrooms, orange bell peppers, chicken, baby bok choi, yellow squash, zucchini, onions, and leftover rotisserie chicken.

Then I added some tteok, water, and a packet of jjajangmyeon powder I got from the Korean grocery in Louisville. It looked great, but then we tasted it. It was naaaaast-yyyyyyyyy! Bitter, and not in an interesting way. Ugh!

So I dumped it all into a colander and rinsed all the sauce off it. We reheated the naked stir fry and added our own sauce to it (I have a variety of bottled sauces, and we chose what we like). THAT was delicious!

I don’t know what went wrong with that jjajangmyeon sauce. No doubt it was user error.

I wouldn’t be so quick to say user error. On the other hand, dumping it in a colander, rinsing it and starting kinda-sorta over was brilliant. It looks great in the photo.
