There’s new hope for climate action as well as for the battles against the pandemic and racial injustice.

On President Biden’s first day in office, he signed executive actions addressing all these crises and more. I think my husband would have been relieved and happy. One of the sorrows of his last days was to see so many of the advances he’d seen during his long life regress.

I don’t know what Greta Thunberg thinks about it, but I do know she’s both back in school and continuing her climate strike. Such gestures may not have any direct effect, but she undeniably raised awareness of our global predicament (whether you believe we caused it or merely that we’re failing to mitigate it or both).

Greta is still my hero.

Hang on, Mom!

We are all so relieved Biden is on the job. And that he was so ready to do the right thing. The nightmare of the past four years will recede, and we now know what the real opposition is, but it has come at a high price.
