Marching Orders #1LinerWeds

The 21st of this month would have been my and Charlie’s fortieth wedding anniversary. So I’ve been sadder than usual. Then the marvelous Dani Greer shared this article from Psychology Today called “6 Tips for Getting Work Done While Feeling Sad and Hopeless”, by Eric R. Maisel Ph.D.

This was my biggest takeaway:

No matter how the world turns, our marching orders remain exactly the same: to do the next right thing.

    I miss the stories that featured Charlie, especially the ones with the cats. Moving on is hard. I’ll send some good thoughts your way.

      I miss those, too. Yesterday, I was stretched on the couch, reading, as he used to do, and Chickie (for the first time) got up next to me and bit my elbow. I could almost hear Charlie growling, “You pup!” He always called Tipper a dog and Chickie a pup. Why? I do not know, but all grown animals were fussed at as “dogs” and little animals were fussed at as “pups”.

    Sorry that you can’t celebrate the 40th to the ultimate. It’s the day before my daughter’s birthday (more than those years….)

    At a time when many marriages don’t make it five years, you and Charlie did the almost impossible: til death did you part.

    Be sad – but it is also incurably romantic, and you so enjoyed each other’s company, cats and all. Hugs.
