Monday Recommends: Alien Double Stamping

My current binge is RESIDENT ALIEN on Netflix. It stars Alan Tudyk, and I LOVE Alan Tudyk, so obvs. It’s also available at a whole slew of places.

Some of the actors I know from Reservation Dogs are in it, too. Honestly, I have a soft spot for Alan Tudyk because he was on my beloved FIREFLY, but I didn’t realize what a good actor he is until I saw him in this. It’s ostensibly a comedy about an alien on a mission to destroy all human life on Earth who crashes outside a small town and, while stranded, takes on a human persona in order to blend in, and becomes more and more human as time passes and he interacts with the townspeople. Lots of funny stuff, but Tudyk brings the heart, too.

Highly recommended.

I tried a new technique on my nails this week that I learned from a Maniology video. It’s called double stamping, and it’s AWESOME!

You pick up a busy pattern.

You stamp that pattern — ON THE PLATE — over a negative space pattern.

The stamper only picks up the new, negative space pattern, leaving the rest of the busy pattern behind. Stamp the finished double stamp on your nail.

And it looks like this (on my bird finger):

The base color on four of my nails is a creamy pale brown. The base color on my accent nail is copper. The stamps on my pointer finger and accent are a dark red, and the double stamp is a copper filigree and a dark red negative space.

Imma try that technique again!

Forgot to say: There are some naughty bits. And I just saw the episode where the octopus is killed and eaten, and I am NOT okay with that!

The double stamping seems like screen printing for nails. Kinda, to me, someone who doesn’t know how to do either one.

I don’t remember how to do screen printing, so I’ll agree. šŸ™‚
