Corrie From the Country @AprilA2Z

I don’t have anything much to say. I’m from back in the knobs of southern Indiana, but I live in Faelin, now. Well, outside Faelin, in the Hardesty house. This picture Miz Allen drew of me sure makes me look scared. I was scared, pretty much all the time, before Mitch came to live up here on the hill.

Corrie From the Country

Corrie from the countryI sure am glad Miss Amelia brought him home with her that day. He shook us all up and everwhat fell out of us, we was — I mean were — better off without.

I guess you can see I used to have a different name. So did Miz Allen. She was Miz Turner back when she first wrote about us, and I was Elizabeth and folks called me Bess. Then Miz Turner married Mr. Allen, and he had three daughters and one of them was named Elizabeth and folks called her Beth. So Miz Allen up and changed my name to Corrie, which was my true name all along. I don’t know why she ever thought it was Elizabeth!

Now this here is April A-to-Z Challenge month, so you go on over to Can I Take A Nap First? and read you some real good little bitty short stories.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.
