Free stuff? Yes, please!
Sometimes I make li’l pictures or badges to go with my posts. I usually make those with PicMonkey. It tries to tell you it isn’t free, but it is. I used it free for a long time, then I subscribed to the Premium or Pro or whatever for the extra fonts and graphics, then they raised the price and I went back to using it for free.
It’s great for more than web page pics, though: You can use it to edit photos, or to design letterhead or business cards or infographics. I’m even thinking about how to use it to help Charlie design a quilt.
If you decide to use PicMonkey, subscribe to their newsletter. They have All The Free Things! Besides, they write funny newsletters. Very jazzy.
And Laura Michaels? She has possibly the ugliest web site since I coded my own in Notepad, but it’s filled with goodies. Be sure to look through each page to the end to be certain you find all the treats. I mean, you wouldn’t expect to find a link to customizing your computer with open-source software on a page about food allergies, but it’s there.
She has a fabulous page of Writer’s Resources, as well as articles on writing, programming, and open source software linked from various pages.

I use Canva when I make my images for the blog. I get their newsletter but I have to admit that I don’t read it. I’ve not tried PicMonkey, but you’re the second blogger who has mentioned it.

February 22, 2019 at 9:25amI tried Canva, but it’s too hard to sort the free stuff from the paid stuff, and I’m not paying for the kind of throw-away graphics I need. I’m just that cheap. PicMonkey has a lot more potential power than I need, but it’s easy to knock out something quick and simple, too.
