No, not the last time I participate in this challenge. This week, my Deal Me In deck turned up hearts, which means, this year, I get to read a story by Alicia Butcher Ehrhardt. Yay!
Night Watch
by Alicia Butcher Ehrhardt
“Night Watch” is one of Alicia’s “drabbles”, a story of exactly 100 words. It’s amazing what an expert writer can do in only 100 words! In this one, which chronicles the last time a certain thing happens, we get current tension, background, and multiple points of view. That’s some compact power, right there.
It was reading Alicia’s short stories that convinced me to buy her novel (there’s only one, so far, PRIDE’S CHILDREN: PURGATORY. I highly recommend it. She puts just as much compact power into EVERY SCENE of her novel.

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Try to write a good short story in 100 words, including title.
