My recommendation this week is books. Books, magazines, newspapers, brochures — print media. I can and do read online and on Kindle apps, but print is my jam. My first preference in books is hardback. #4 Daughter says she prefers paperback because if she’s reading in bed and goes to sleep, it hurts more to be smacked in the face by a large tree.

She’s not wrong.

Still, I love hardbacks. If I find a book I want both to keep and to share, I’ll buy a backup paperback to lend but keep the hardback in my Reserved section.

Yes, I often wish I could do a quick Search and Find for a particular passage I know I read in one of my books, but that can be done online and, when it’s found, it can be looked at “in person” in the book the web says it was in.

And I purely love reading one of Charlie’s books and seeing what he underlined and starred and what comments he wrote in the margin. It’s like a conversation he left for me to have with him later. It’s one-sided, but if I say that isn’t any different from our real life conversations I’d be saying the quiet part out loud.

ANYWAY, my nails this week are in honor of the Solstice. Sort of caramel and plumb, stamped with off-white. Not Cloud Dancer, mind you.
